I find it interesting....

... that we must be told how important wisdom is.

We have a whole book of the Bible on Godly wisdom - thirty-one chapters of the book of Proverbs, which stress how important wisdom is; how She desperately cries out for people to turn to her, how having it can enrich your life, and make you prosperous. Why must we be instructed on something so (seemingly) obvious? Why must we be begged and pleaded with?

I also find it interesting that Solomon never had this great book, yet when the Lord came to him and asked him what he wanted most from Him, he was already wise enough to know that the only thing that matters is Godly wisdom.  (I'm sure watching his father had a lot to do with that. He saw all the mistakes David made and probably did not want to repeat them in his own life and reign. How familiar is that?)

This is just one more example of how much we take the Word of God for granted. We have this unfathomable treasure, and yet we neglect it.

"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; but fools despise wisdom and instruction" Prov 1:7

Give me wisdom, that I may not be simple minded, a scorner, or a fool.

Fight the good fight - with WISDOM!
