The Secret Place

Another gem from Oswald Chambers.

"When you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut the door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly"

We know we must begin our day with prayer. We know we must have a place, a 'prayer closet', designated for prayer. We know we must tame our wandering thoughts, and concentrate not on the objectives of the day, the worries of life, or plans for upcoming events, but on Him and what He would reveal to us.

I like Mr. Oswald's interpretation of this verse. We don't go into the prayer closet merely to physically withdraw from others. 'Shutting the door' also refers to our emotions. "Having a secret stillness before God means deliberately shutting the door on our emotions and remembering Him. God is in secret and sees us from the secret place"

Did you let Him into your secret place today?
Fight the good fight
